The path lies behind us is like a golden rod of love,
Spread in that path that we have trod lie choices
Good and bad. But what has pulled us through
And kept us holding hands, is Gods kindness from above.
We have felt Him in our joy filled hours as each child
Was safely born. We have felt Him in our darkest hour
When Ruth died in our arms. We felt Him as we tried
With our feeble best to do His will, And I know he smiled
And with a kindly nod increased our love and we felt as one .
We have been blessed beyond compare with Gods eternal love
And we can gain from the past much to help us in time to come
So we can strive with loving hearts to win our heavenly home.
We can look forward to the years ahead, whatever may befall
Us in our latter years, for we have gained a knowledge of Gods love
And that has made our own love more precious than before.
No sorrow will dim our love, And make us even more whole.
So come what may we will serve with love our great God above,
Strive hard to do his will and serve wherever He may call,
Work to make our love grow stronger and our lives purer be
So at last when life is ended live with Him in perfect love.
