AT THE RAINBOWS END
I remember many a day after the heavy rain
Thered be a rainbow as the sun shone again.
Then all my friends would want to find the gold
At the rainbows end, and fairies meet we were told.
There across the meadow an end could be seen
Were those fairy folks dressed in bright green?
Look you can see then dancing in a fairy ring,
If you listen carefully you will hear them sing.
Come to the end of the rainbow, come everyone,
Come with the one you love when your life is done,
Till then youll never find the end, it will go away,
Keep moving ever onward till your appointed day.
If you really love, the fairies a promise will make,
You will go together, so one tender heart wont break.
As I listened to their haunting song, tinkling sweet,
Like bells across the meadow, I wish I could meet
Just one of the little folk and ask if it was true,
But noone else heard it, I was one of the very few.
When true love came to my young tender heart
We would see the rainbows, would they do their part?
Take us both together as we met at the rainbows end,
Or one live on alone, lost without lover and friend.
I dont know if the tale is true or just the mind of a child,
Wanting things to be perfect, for I was rather wild,
With a vivid imagination, but knowing it is so comforting
If we met at the rainbows end, death together would bring.
