WHEN YOU SAID YES

Can you remember the first time we met?
We were young and carefree, looking for love,
A love that would last the whole life through,
Then last for eternity in our home above.

Your smile awoke in my sleeping heart
A joy beyond measure, a love so true,
Then my sweet Mary, when you said “yes”
I knew I was blessed, for you loved me too.

As the years rolled on in joy or pain,
We were togther, bound in love for evermore
No matter how dark and dreary the way
Our love stayed strong, keeping God’s law.

Each day we share together in these latter days
Are glimpses of our heavenly home above.
I still feel joy as I hold your hand my dear,
My heart still skips when I think of our love.

So my sweet Mary, I’m glad we met and wed
And lived through these years together as one,
For now we look forward to kingdoms of our God,
To be an eternal family when our work here is done.
