THOUGHTS IN GETHSEMANE

What thoughts did Jesus have in Gethsemane?
As he prayed and suffered on bended knee.
Can we, as mere humans even comprehend
The torment that raged to the very end?

His thoughts always soared to heaven above,
Now left alone, He must pay the price with love.
All our evil thought He had to bear, every sin,
How His thoughts must have churned within.

No way out of this sacrifice so pure and divine,
No one else could pay for your sins and mine.
One heart strong enough, one worthy the sacrifice,
Only one pure enough to pay the ultimate price.

What thoughts swept through his perfect mind?
As His Father had to leave Him far behind.
Can you remember when the spirit went away?
How all the world seemed empty and gray?

Help me be worthy of that sweet sacrifice divine,
When Father allowed His son to suffer and pine
All alone in the world, depending on no one at all,
To pay the ultimate price, save man from the fall.

May we each day think of our Saviour with care
As he suffered for sin, no one this burden to share,
All alone with His thoughts and pain, just for me,
As He bled from every pore in blessed Gethsemane.
