Blindness is a momentary lapse
of the sense of sight
for those who choose not to participate
in seeing what is true
in seeing what is right
in simply seeing the world
through untainted eyes.

Sharpness of sight
is a momentary lapse of blindness
for those who want to criticize
the slightest fault,
for those who are
desperately covering up
the smallest details,
for those who want to lie
to themselves and to others
about what is
about what will be
about what can be.

In many ways, it is better to be
truly blind,
born without sight.
It is only when we cannot see
with our eyes
can we truly feel with our hearts
what is real
what is essential
what we need.
