My hands are callused
and peeling and tired
from making and doing
all these things I know
you can do yourself.
My nails are cracked and dirty,
my fingers caked with dirt.
These are hands that will
never wear diamond rings
or gold watches.
But never look down
on my dirty hands
because these are the hands
that do the work
you refuse and abhor.
Without these hands of mine
you will have to soil yours.
