THE ONE AND ONLY

Why do Christians put so much emphasis upon what is written in the Bible? Because it both claims and proves itself to be the inspired Word of God, a direct revelation.

The men who wrote claimed to receive their message from God directly: ”Thus saith the Lord” (Amos 1:3); “And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord” (Exodus 24:4); “Thus hath the Lord showed unto me” (Amos 8:1); David wrote, “The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was [upon] my tongue” (2 Samuel 23:2).

Peter said,”Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. Ffor the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:20-21); And Paul wrote, ”All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly finished [matured] unto all good works”(2 Timothy 3:16-17). And Peter said Paul wrote Scripture from God (2 Peter 3:15-16).

The people who recived them first always have held that they are from God and history demonstrates its agreement with the many hundreds of fulfilled prophecies from the Bible. True scientific facts, and not pseudoscientific conjecture, agree with the Bible with true parody.

We don’t have to make guesses in the area of cosmology [the affairs of those on the earth] or cosmogony [the initialization or creation of the earth]. We have plain statements given by the One Who created all things according to His good pleasure.

The millions and millions of lives which have been changed over the mellenia, changed by its life-giving mesage demonstrate it is the Word of God.The life-fulfillment, the joy, the peace of soul and answered prayer of true, practicing Christians attest to the same.

I have said all that to say this: When the Bible says ”ye must be born again” then, “ye must be born again” (JOHN 3:3,5) because Jesus said so in the Bible.

When it says there is no other way unto God but through Jesus Christ (John 14:6), through faith and not of works (Ephesians 2:8-9), you can count on it’s truth because it is the testimony of God the Father and God the Son. He says, further, that He is awaiting your personal invitation into your heart and life to save you (Revelation 3:20) and to give you peace (John 14:27).

There will always be phonies teaching all sorts of different things, new things, but stay with the Scripture, the Bible alone. It was given by an infinitely wise God to be our standard to test the teachings and doctrines of man, to affirm them as genuine or to dismiss them as falsehood. Even if they claim an heavenly source, they are not if they differ from the standard, the Word of God.

”I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another [of the same kind, i.e., a phony gospel]; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ” (Galatians 1:6-7).

As though this apostolic admponition were not enough, he punctuates it with even greater force. Notice, too, that two-thousand years before their cult’s existence, he takes care of the question of Mormanism, which claims to have its doctrine from an angel.

”But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any OTHER gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed [anethema is the Greek word here]. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [one] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:8-9).

”For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10).

Make you choices reasonably and let the Bible be your guide. It never changes and never becomes out of date. It always leads to truth and personal faith in Jesus Christ, It may not always be popular but it is always correct. If you have never given your life to the Lord Jesus, the Jesus of the Bible, now is your opportunity. Don’t put it off until it is forever too late.
