![]() ![]() Poem For FatherFathers are wonderful peopleToo little understood, And we do not sing their praises As often as we should... For, somehow, Father seems to be The man who pays the bills, While Mother binds up little hurts And nurses all our ills... And Father struggles daily To live up to "HIS IMAGE" As protector and provider And "hero or the scrimmage"... And perhaps that is the reason We sometimes get the notion, That Fathers are not subject To the thing we call emotion, But if you look inside Dad's heart, Where no one else can see You'll find he's sentimental And as "soft" as he can be... But he's so busy every day In the grueling race of life, He leaves the sentimental stuff To his partner and his wife... But Fathers are just WONDERFUL In a million different ways, And they merit loving compliments And accolade of praise, For the only reason Dad aspires To fortune and success Is to make the family proud of him And to bring them happiness... And like OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, He's a guardian and a guide, Someone that we can count on To be ALWAYS ON OUR SIDE. One who would always speak kindly To a little girl or boy, One who would give to others A bit of sunshine and joy. I'd pick a dad that followed The Bible's Golden Rule, And one who went regularly To Church and Sunday School. I'd buy the very finest dad To place on our family tree, And then I'd try to live like him So he would be proud of me. Helen Kitchell Evans ![]() A FATHER'S PLACEIt is a father's placeTo be concerned about his own, His household's faith in God; The love of Christ enthrone. A father e'er should be Responsible, the head Of all his house; feed them The Word, the Living Bread. By him his children should Be led to worship God, Through Christ; as in Him paths Of righteousness are trod. It is a father's place (Today and every day) To read the Word in circle sweet, And lead and guide and pray. Will you be one of those To take his proper place? To sit at meat with grateful heart, His table, in Christ, grace? Oh, Christian fathers! Hear God's Word! His voice obey! And thereby, teach your families To love and trust and pray. The man who is willing to be the right example to every boy he meets. 4. The man who thinks more of his Sunday School Class than he does of his Sunday sleep. 5. The man who measures his giving by what he has left rather than by the amount he gives. 6. The man who goes to church for Christ's sake, rather than for his own or someone else's. 7. The man who has more passion to help others than he had to be helped himself. 8. The man who can see his own faults before he sees the faults of others. 9. The man who stands firm in his convictions, based upon the Word of God, that is a "backbone" Christian. 10. The man who is more concerned about winning souls for Christ than he is about winning honor. Source Unknown from Soul's Harvest,Pulpit Helps, submitted by Wayne Rouse,Astoria, Ill
