Of the
MORGAN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENT COUNCIL
Article I: Name
The organization shall be known as the Morgan County High School Student Council.
Article II: Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be:
Article III: Membership
C. Members may be recommended by the advisor and elected by a 2/3 vote of the council, not to exceed the thirty member maximum.
D. A vacancy on the Student Council shall be filled by the student who was next in line in the election results.
E. Any member who misses three (3) unexcused meetings throughout the year will be removed from the Student Council for the remainder of the year.
G. For failure to carry out his/her duties, a member may be removed by a 2/3 vote of the Executive Board.
Article IV: Officers
A. The Student Council membership shall include the offices of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
1. The President shall be a senior who was vice-president as a junior.
2. The vice-president shall be a Junior with at least one year of Student Council experience.
3. The secretary may be from grades 10, 11 or 12 with at least one year of Student Council experience.
4. The treasurer may be from grades 10, 11 or 12 with at least one year of Student Council experience.
Article V: Meetings
A. The Student Council shall meet once each month during school club day
B. The Student Council shall meet on the f8irst Wednesday of each month after school.
C. The president and/or advisor may call special meetings when deemed necessary.
D. One-half plus one member of the present Student Council membership and the faculty advisor shall constitute a quorum.
Article VI: Powers and Duties
The powers and duties of the Student Council shall be:
A. To act as a guage of the student opinion.
B. To discuss any concerns of the student body and to initiate action.
C. To promote involvement in school activities.
D. To sponsor assembly programs.
E. To organize and promote general and special elections.

A. All members must represent Morgan County at a minimum of one workshop, conference or camp during the school year.
B. With the exception of the executive board, every council member will be a member of a committee.
1. Standing committees shall include:
Public Relations (8)
Fund Raising (8)
Projects (8)
Community Service (8)
2. The executive board may add or delete committees and/or committee members.
Article VIII: Amendments & Ratification
The constitution may be revised or amended by 2/3 vote of the entire membership of the Student Council.
Any proposed amendment to the constitution must be typed in its entirety and included in the agenda of the meeting during which the vote is to be taken
