Dedicated to Dale Todd Hall who died January 1,
1999 at 10:10 A.M. while in the critical care unit of the University
of Missouri Hospital. Infections, resulting from inmune suppress
conditions, claimed his life. He was a supporter of the transplant
program and had two good years of quality life. God has his
soul.
The transplanted heart diagram above is a copy of a
sweatshirt logo used by the Transplant Support Group, a growing
volunteer organization of seventy some men and women, young and old,
who have had life saving heart transplant surgery at the University
Hospital & Clinics, Columbia, MO.
Dale T. Hall was transplant patient number 62 and the
transplant took place on October 12, 1996, almost 29 years after the
first heart was transplanted by Dr. Christian Bernard in South
Africa. Dale waited 7 weeks in the hospital for an available
heart.
The entire transplant program, that involves other
vital organs, is wholly dependent upon the individual donor or donor
families who make organs available to the surgeons and hospital
systems all over the nation. Individuals are waiting for organs so
they can once again have quality of life. Look on the rear of your
drivers license to see if you have a donor form.
E-mail us if you have questions regarding how to
arrange for donations at your death, or the death of a loved
one.
