Jl MC 201 Lab 8

June 6-June 7

1. Lab 8: Write a news-feature based on in-class interview of Herman Quirmbach, a member of the Iowa Senate. Quirmach, a Democrat who represents District 23, also is a economics professor at Iowa State. Have a single focus. Use at least four direct quotes. The article should be two and a half to three pages in length, double spaced. Please be careful with fact errors. Proofread very carefully before turning in Monday at the start of class.

2. Make sure you have a focus that functions as a thread that keeps your story together.

3. Include a news peg. Keep in mind your audience is ISU students and faculty. Story should include several quotes interwoven throughout story.

4. Lab 9: Turn in environment-health-science article first draft. Sign up for a slot for next Wednesday's class. The meeting will last 10 minutes each.

5. I will transmit to you by e-mail your mid-term exam score. If you want to go over the exam, set up an individual conference with me during my office hours.

6. Also due Monday is your response to the second Reflective Journal prompt. Remember, these count a total of 5 percent of your grade.
