. Present at the monthly meeting of club officers and interested club members were:
Pesident, Connie Kadansky CTM; Educational Vice President, Irene Majava, CTM; Public Relations Vice President, Lori Weldon; Secretary, Kathleen Harnett; Sergeant at Arms, Donna Doss; co-Sgt at Arms elect Erich Hermanns; and Newsletter Editor, Glenn Pike, DTM.

Speaking opportunities:
The idea that everyone at a Valley Toastmasters meeting be given the chance to speak was discussed and agreed upon. To help accomplish this, the council agreed that the speakers, evaluators, the general evaluator and the Toastmaster "pass" on Table Topics (if called upon). Other recommendations were discussed and it was decided that the Toastmaster include a list of all members who do not have a speaking function in the prepared meeting agenda for the morning. The list will provide a guide for the Table Topics Master. Connie will outline the concept to future Toastmasters.

Ending on Time:
Recent meetings have been continuing past 7:30 a.m. Connie requested that everyone work to conclude our meetings on time and offered that the Invocation and Pledge be kept to a minimum.

The Grammarian:
Members discussed the importanance of the Grammarian's function and how it might be improved. Donna Doss suggested that sometimes people may know know what to listen for. Irene suggested the possbility the grammarian's mentor provide assistance. Maya Devilla wondered if the Grammarian could ask for additional coments from other members. No action taken.

Speech Topics:
Donna Doss asked if it was appropriate to talk about politics, religion or sex (three subjects she heard were taboo in a Toastmatsers meeting) or other subjects as had been mentioned by Connie (bathroom, bedroom and bar). The general consenses was that members be free to speak on any subject---in good taste; whether politicallly correct or not (Donna) , free to talk about what they believe in (Maya), free to give speeches which are an expression of their faith (Glenn). Glenn noted that the individual speaker evalution forms offer an opportunity for the audience to express its feeback to the speaker.

Treasurer's report:
In the absence of Jackie, who was out of town, Connie handed out the Treasurer's Report (see page 6). Connie recommended that questions be handled directly with Jackie Weaver.

Public Relations:
Lori Weldon passed around pictures from the Valley's video taping sesison. She also expressed a desire to get the Arizona Republic to come and visit one of our meetings. Connie, who served as the P.R. officer last year, thought a smaller community paper might be more likely to do something like that.

Supplies:
Various needs of the club (coffee, cups, etc) was discussed. Additional quanities will be ordered.

Next meeting:
The date for the next meeting was left open pending contact with all officers of a proposal by Connie that future meetings take place on Thursday, following Valley's regular meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:30.
