A Cabbage, a Goat, and a Tiger - Solution

The tiger eats the goat and the goat eats the cabbage, so we cannot start with the top of the food chain or the bottom of the food chain.  The only other option for starting is to take the goat first.

  1. Take the goat to the far side of the river and come back with an empty boat.
  2. Take the tiger to the far side of the river and come back with the goat.
  3. Take the cabbage to the far side of the river and come back with an empty boat.
  4. Take the goat to the far side of the river.

Now the only problem is to figure out how to get the boat back to the other side of the river where we started.
