Walking Through the Mall - Solution

by
Erik Oosterwal

This same kind of puzzle finds its way into most puzzle books and magazines from time to time.  The solution is not completely different from Trace the Circuit and Trace the Circuit - Part 2 on The Puzzle Page, except that this one doesn't require you to stay on a grid, and there are fewer sets that need to be connected.  If you haven't tried them out yet and enjoyed this one, be sure to click on the links.

As with the grid tracing problems, the key to solving this brain teaser is realizing that Bill's path to his destination cuts the 'mall' into two parts and everyone to his left has to stay to his left and everyone to his right needs to stay to the right.
