The Servants of God
Covenant Community

Jesus summed up all of the commandments by telling us to love God and to love our neighbour as ourselves (Matt 22:37). In keeping with this command, the members of Servants of God have made a covenant to commit their lives fully to Jesus Christ and to one Another.

The Servants od God believe that Christianity is more than a doctrine. It is a lifestyle that we can live out only with the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and other believers.

The Servants of God is not a church: rather it is an interdenominational body of believers renewed in this spirit and committed to:

  • Being a people
  • Family Renewal
  • Evangelism

Our life together

Our life together has developed from our study of the New Testament. Acts 2:42-47 says early Christians "devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer... Every day they broke bread in their houses and ate together with glad and sincere hearts."

Today's Christians also must develop supportive relationships with other Christians. Such fellowship is essential to living Christcentered lives in a secular enviroment. Our life together in the Servants of God includes:

  1. Small group meetings for prayer support, scripture sharing, teachings and evangelism
  2. Prayer meetings
  3. Saturday evening Lord's Day meals celebrated with other families
  4. A series of teachings for Christian formation
  5. Individual pastoral headship
  6. Sharing of resources and serving one another

The Sword of the Spirit

The Servants of God community is associated with the Sword of the Spirit, an international community which is spreading the gospel on every continent except Antarctica. The Sword of Spirit has united Catholics, Protestans and Orthodox Christians. It also shows further evidence of Christian unity as blacks and whites have united in community in Johannesburg, South Africa; and Catholics, and Protestants who have shared their lives in community in Belfast, Northem Ireland. The Sword of the Spirit's outreaches include University Christian Outreach and Servant Publications.

The Sword of the Spirit provides direction to the Servants of God in its community-building work, and also provides more than 90 hours of practical Christian teaching on such subjects as:

  • Comunication in Marriage
  • Family life
  • Christian service
  • Spiritual growth

Christian Unity

From its beginning in 1977, the Servants of God community has been commited to Christian unity. Our community includes both Catholics and Protestans who believe that a shared life is a witness to God's desire to make His people one.

"There is one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father" (Eph. 4:4-6)
