| How do we use comparison |
1. ขั้นกว่า (comparative) มักจะตามด้วย than และมักจะใช้เปรียบเทียบของ 2 สิ่ง เช่น
My house is more beautiful than your house.
Sue's car is bigger than my car.
2. ถ้าหลัง than + any other + นามเอกพจน์ จะมีความหมายขั้นสุด เช่น
Bangkok is bigger than any other city in Thailand.
= Bangkok is the biggest city in Thailand.
3. ถ้าใช้ of หรือ between + สองสิ่ง จะใช้ the + ขั้นกว่าเท่านั้น เช่น
Of the two boys, Dang is the taller.
Malee is the more beautiful between the two girls.
4. ถ้าเปรียบเทียบระหว่าง 3 สิ่ง หรือ 3 คนขึ้นไป ใช้ขั้นสูงสุด และมักจะใช้ the เช่น
He is the most intelligent in class.
This shirt is the cheapest in this shop.
5. ถ้า of + สามสิ่งขึ้นไป จะใช้ the + ขั้นสูงสุด เช่น
Of the three boys, Sam is the tallest.
6. วลีที่พบใน superlative degree ส่วนมากขึ้นต้นด้วย in หรือ of เช่น

7. ประโยคที่ตามหลัง superlative degree มักนิยมใช้ present perfect tense เช่น
It's the most boring film I've ever seen.

หมายเหตุ เราจะใช้คำขยายบอกปริมาณเป็นการเน้น กับ comparative เพื่อบอกว่ามากกว่ามาก หรือ มากกว่าเพียงเล็กน้อยได้
