Are You Immortal?

"Repent!  Time is short!  The world is ending!"

So says the man in the street, with eyes crazy and wild.  Obviously, these are the words of a madman.  Or are they?

From one perspective, the world is the earth and all that thrives within.  From another perspective, the world is the temple of your body.

How long will your world last?  In truth, your time is short and the body that is your world is ending.  When will it end?  Perhaps tomorrow afternoon as you attempt to cross a street and are hit by a reckless driver. Maybe next week with a heart attack.  Maybe 70 years from now.

Thankfully, we are much more than just the bodies we occupy.  But while occupying this world, we have something to do, a mission if you will,  and no one knows how long we have to accomplish it.  Just as the deadline for taxes comes and goes whether we file or not, I fear that the deadline for our missions in life will come and go whether we pursue them or not.

A co-worker has a sign on his desk saying.

      I am immortal.

God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things.  Right now, I'm so far behind, I'll never die.

Don't believe it.  Time is short.  Repent, yes, but equally important, act if you haven't.
