HISTORY
Armed forces Academies Preparatory School is an institution equal to senior

the Supreme Command Headquarters. The school is unique in Thailand for
it is the prime center for students before they attend at the Chulachomklao
Royal Military Academy, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy and the
Police Cadet Academy. The Ministry of Defense established the Armed Forces
Academies Preparatory School on 27 January 1958 by consolidating the preparatory
schools of the Royal Thai Army, Navy, and Air Force determining the military
and police officers to study together for familiarization and unity when
they are young. After graduating, they will be able to cooperate effectively
for the benefit of the armed forces and the police department. The present
location of the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School is on Rama IV
road, Bangkok 10330,Thailand.
MISSION
The mission of the school is two-fold. First, to administer the various
departments within the school. Second, to modify the behavior of the precadet,
to enhance his knowledge and efficiency before attending the Royal Armed
Forces and Police Academies. The administration of the school is divided
into eight divisions : 1. Headquarters 2. Education Branch 3. Regiment
of Cadets 4. Physical Education Division 5. Statistics and Evaluation Division
6. Logistics Division 7. Medical Division 8. Military Science Division
CURRICULUM
The curriculum is equivalent to that of the last two years of senior high
school (grade 11-12) set by the Ministry of Education. The two-year period
is divided into 4 semesters which cover the following subjects. Compulsory
subjects Mathematics, Sciences, Thai, Social sciences, Physical education
and Military sciences Elective subjects English, Thai, Social sciences,
Mathematics and Physical education Precadets graduated from Armed Forces
Academies Preparatory School will gain certificates indicating their academic
status equivalent to those having finished senior high school education
of the Ministry of Education.
They
will afterward further their study at either the Chulachomklao Royal Military
Academy, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy or the Police Cadet Academy.
Chain of Command The Regiment of Cadets provides military education and
training in both the classroom and the field under the responsibilities
of the Commandant of Cadets. The precadets are divided into four battalions
and are directly controlled by the platoon commanders. Besides they are
under the higher command of the company commanders, the battalion commanders,
the Commandant of Cadets and the Superintendent. Moreover, the school employs
the Precadet Chain of command. There are a precadet leader, battalion commanders,
company commanders and platoon commanders respectively. This Precadet Chain
of Command will enable the precadets to experience and prepare themselves
for the responsibilities they will face after graduation.
APTITUDE
SYSTEM Laying a firm foundation of leadership is considered as most important
task of the School, the premise in which the training is based is that
leaders are not born but are developed. The requirement is accomplished
by the Aptitude System with the following objectives. 1. Develop the basic
qualities and attributes of leadership of each precadet. 2. Analyze and
evaluate the leadership potential of each precadet. Those who are highly
evaluated will be assigned in the Precadet Chain of Command. 3. Strengthen
the leadership development of each precadet, particularly in those areas
in which any weakness is detected, and try to raise him up to the prescribed
standards. 4. Teach the precadets how to study and evaluate people. The
evaluation of individual precadet leadership is accomplished through a
program of confidential ratings by officers and precadets. The combined
ratings will establish a standing in aptitude for each precadet.
HONOUR
SYSTEM The Honour Code is one of the most important features of precadet
life. The Code embodies these principles : "We will not lie, cheat
or steal, nor tolerate among us those who do". Honour, as it is accredited
by all of the precadets, is a fundamental attribute of character. Honour
is a virtue which implies loyalty and courage, truthfulness and self-respect,
justice and generosity. Its underlying principle is truth. It is not a
complicated system of ethics, but merely "honest dealing and clean
thinking." If a precadet is true in thoughts, words, and deeds, there
is no question about his meeting the standards of the school. On the other
hand, quibbling, evasive statements or the use of technicalities to conceal
guilt are not tolerated at the school.
