Welsh philosopher and mathematician.

Most notable works: The Analysis of Mind (1921), An Inquiry into Meaning and Truth (1940), and Human Knowledge: Its Scope and Limits(1948).

His early worksGerman Social Democracy (1896) and An Essay on the Foundations of Geometry (1877) demonstrated his skill as an exponent in his two chosen fields. He became famous for his application of mathematical reasoning to the solution of ethical and political problems.
