The Aviator

(1985)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

Two folks I gotta thank before I tell ya 'bout a doozy! Well, actually three, now that I think about it. First of all, Orville and Wilbur Wright. Secondly, Thomas Edison. The Wright Brothers for the invention of aviation, and Mr. Edison for the invention of moving pictures. The collaboration of these three gentlemen is indirectly responsible for a great picture called "The Aviator." Christopher Reeve and Rosanna Arquette give stunning performances. I liked it a lot. When I got home, I put together eight airplane models! Eight! Go see this film and feel the aviation thrill for months.

The Bad News Bears Go to Japan

(1978)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

The crazy kids are at it again, this time in the land of those funny men from "Gung Ho." In the movie, the Bears visit the land, play ball and deliver excellent performances! I liked this movie and you will like it, too.

Bustin' Loose

(1981)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

Wacky! You gotta love it! Richard Pryor is assigned to drive some troublemakin' fun-lovin' kids cross country and the fun begins! The best part is when Pryor is being chased by some KKK guys, and boy, does he ever get out of it! The best line is when a young bus rider tells Pryor that her teddy bear has to pee-pee. Pryor responds, "Let the bear pee in your pocket!" What a line!

Clash of the Titans

(1981)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

I have two things to say about this fine film: "Wow!" and "What a film!" I say these things for many reasons, some of which I will share, some of which I will not, because you need to check 'em out for yourself! I will tell you that this movie has action, romance and even a naked gal (no peekin', young ones!). Along with the aforementioned goodies, there are many truths and life lessons offered in the film. One fine truth in this film came during a good part when Harry Hamlin leaves his magical shield behind on his way to save the princess. He did this after an old man that was in "Rocky" told him to take it with him, and the old man says, "The young...when will they ever listen, when will they ever learn?" What a line, what a picture!

Class Action

(1991)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

I usually am not one to see films involving law, but when I heard "the Fish" (Larry Fishburne) was in this one, I quickly put on my blue houseshoes, ran out in my robe, got my paper and looked to see when "Class Action" started first. Well, when I arrived at the show 30 minutes early, I was treated to a film like no other. It is about the law, cars, families and so much more. I think you will like it, too.

Continental Divide

(1981)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This is one of Belushi's finest. The great job he does acting as a newspaper reporter just completely takes away from all the beautiful Colorado scenery. The best line is when Belushi is told about the job he has to do (go to the continental divide to interview a woman of the woods) and he responds, "I'm not goin' to the continental crack!" Whoa-ho! Don't repeat that one in front of your folks, kids!

Date with an Angel

(1987)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This film was so good, I told my friends to go see it and they did, and I went with them even though I had already seen it! Ha ha! It is about this pretty angel that gets her wings broken and she falls into a young man's pool from the skies. A lot of neat things happen, she makes many people in the movie happy, and that makes the audience real happy. One funny thing about this movie is that when she talks, she beeps like a robot! Go see this movie real soon!

Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead

(1991)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

Tell Mom about this great story! Not since "White Palace" has a movie brought out such emotion in my inner-self as to make me laugh, cry and clap! There were funny lines in this movie and a funny part involving plates, guns and the line "Dishes are done!" I had to see this film twice because I was laughing so hard at that quip that I missed what was said after that.

Firefox

(1982)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This was an action film like no other! Planes racin' and shootin' at one another, I was amazed at this film! This story was about some people who wanted to get something and used incredible technology to get it! I was baffled at some of the gizmos in this film. My Timex/Sinclair computer at home is as sophisticated as I get, so you know this fine film blew me away! Go see "Firefox!"

Ghost Dad

(1990) Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10
This Will Cosby film is a lot like the film "Ghost," only with a dad and not as many steamy scenes. I guess you could say that I am a very big fan of Mr. Cosby. He is a talented actor and makes faces funnier than I have seen in more than 12 years. Basically, Mr. Cosby comes back a ghost and visits his family &endash; and fun ensues! I don't want to tell you much more about the film, as that would spoil the fun. I will say, so that you do not get your hopes up, that Martin Mull is not in this film, but I think you'll enjoy it regardless!

Gotcha!

(1985)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

Wow! That is word I use when describing the film "Gotcha!" This film, about a fine young student going to Paris to study, is a gem-dandy! Not unlike the film "Hexed," this single-word-titled film has many good parts in it! The star, Anthony Edwards, was also in a movie about some nerds who rally to victory, which is ironic because if you don't go see this movie, then you are a nerd! Ha ha! Just kidding! Anyway, Anthony gets involved in espionage which makes for action, action and more action! I really want to see "Gotcha!" again, and really soon to boot! Hope when I do, I see you there, or I'll getcha!

Grease

(1978)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

"Wow! What a good movie!" I said to myself when I saw this film. Lots of good songs and jokes and cute gals. One of the gals gets her hair colored yellow and one of the greasers tells her she looks like a big beautiful pineapple. Imagine that, I could never say that! The best part is when one of the greasers named Kenickie is talking about how all the girls want to hang around him and his pal says, "The only thing that hangs around you, Kenickie, are the flies!" What a line!

The Incredible Shrinking Woman

(1981)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

A short review for a movie about a tiny person &endash; this one's a doozy! Go see it! It has many funny scenes with a gorilla! I guarantee the lines will not be short for this one, so get there early!

Krull

(1983)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

I liked this film as much as any other I have seen since "Brewster's Millions." Usually, action-fantasy movies are not that good to me, but when the plot got heavy in this jewel, I put down my popped corn and gave it my full attention. I plan to see this film two more times to find out more about how the Krullmaster goes about his mystical and marvelous ways. Helpful hint: When I am constipated, I yell "Krull!" and am relieved. Try it!

Midnight Madness

(1980)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This comedy-thriller was both comedic and thrilling, and let me tell you why in my following statements! But first, I'll say that it stars many fine young actors, including Michael John Fox. (You might know him as Michael J. Fox, but I call him by his full name because I have seen "Teen Wolf" seven times and know it by heart, and thus, feel close to him.) Anyway, the acting in this movie is so good, I thought for a short while that I was watching real life! Whenever I hear that there is a movie out about a group of youths driving all over town on a perplexing scavenger hunt, I usually say to myself, "Tom, let's go see this film!" so indeed I did, hopping into my green car and driving straight to the movie house. Little did I know that I would almost laugh myself to death when one of the groups gets marshmallows in their computer, causing real problems! I will not say anything else except go see this film; she's a doozy!

Not Without My Daughter

(1990)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

The lady from "Smokey and the Bandit II" stars as a woman that goes away to the desert and lives, but gets into a sad situation. I usually don't cry in films, but I did here! See this film soon, but not without some popcorn!

Oh, God! You Devil

(1984)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This fine film about a songwriter played by Ted Wass is really good. I guess you could say Ted "Wass" really good in this movie! Basically, he sells his soul for success, and fun ensues! When this comes out on video, I think I will buy it and watch it again! If George Burns decides to make another one, then God help us all! I don't know if my sides will be able to take the laughter!

On the Right Track

(1981)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This dandy about horse racing and shoe shining is one that you and your friends should see. The young man from "Diff'rent Strokes" stars as a fellow who lives in a train station locker (imagine that, if you will), shines shoes and picks winners of races. Seeing this film is believing.

Screwballs

(1983)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This is a good movie that you can file under Z for zany! It is the story of a high school chock full of mischief, pretty girls and, of course, as have all schools, crazy kids! See this film soon and you will wish you were back at school havin' fun once again! The scene like the one where the prettiest woman presses her boobs against the car window never happened when I was a schoolboy, though.

Six Pack

(1982)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

Today I will you about a film above and beyond film, be it a comedy, a drama or a science fiction shoot-em-up with neat infra-ray guns. This film is called "Six Pack" and stars Kenny Rogers and a young Anthony Michael Hall. Rogers shines as a race car driver who has six kids working for him as his pit crew. My favorite line in the film (or any film) is when a mean race car driver comes up to Rogers and says, "Whaddaya pay your crew with? All-day suckers?" I won't tell you much more about this fine piece of work. Wouldn't want to spoil the ending!

SpaceCamp

(1986)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This was probably the best movie I have seen since "Firefox!" Just close your eyes and imagine yourself going to a real live space camp! Well, of course, not while you're in the theater! Keep 'em open or you'll miss many good parts! There were lots of good actors, and there were lots of good actresses to go along with all the good actors in this movie about real live space camps. Starring are a cute robot and Kate Capshaw &emdash; boy, is she a looker! I recommend this film quicker than you can say "What a great film!" because you'll be saying it pretty quick into the show!

Straight Talk

(1992)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

When I feel lonely at night, I often listen to, and sometimes call, my favorite radio talk show, "Talkin' Tonya." Other times, I go to the picture show. When I heard there was a new picture about such a program, I thought, "Wow, that's a better combination than yams and butter!" Boy, when I saw this show about a country girl (Dolly Parton) who goes to Chicago to have a talk show and fall in love, my movie-loving self was pleased beyond belief. See this picture soon, and that is my straight talk about a fine, fine show!

Super Fuzz

(1981)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

"Super Fuzz" is a funny, funny movie! Not since Gene Wilder's "The Frisco Kid" has my funny bone been tickled so darn hard! Ernest Borgnine, who plays a cop that works with the policeman who gets super powers affected only when he sees red, gives an Oscar-caliber performance. My favorite part is when they go up in the air on a big bubble-gum balloon and it pops and they fall through the world and end up in a land Borgie calls "Hiwiahonkata." Many Chinese surround the two. Chinese are funny! See this film for sure!

Swing Shift

(1984)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

A Rosie the Riveter movie starring Goldie Hawn! What casting! Kinda like Roseanne Arnold starring in a food-eating picture with Dom DeLuise. Of course, Burt Reynolds would have to be in it, too, but that's off the subject. "Swing Shift" kept me swingin' and a-shiftin' in my seat with laughter as Goldie riveted her way to stardom. Great picture, great cast, great Scott!

Turner and Hooch

(1989)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This movie has a man and a dog in it and was very good to see. That fuzzy-headed man from "Bosom Buddies" plays a zany detective that gets stuck with a hound that's a big ol' dog! The story gets real interesting when a crime has to be solved and, of course, the big dog does lots of funny things (including poots!), much to the chagrin of the man from "Bosom Buddies." See it; you'll love it!

Under the Rainbow

(1981)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This movie has lots of short folks in it, but that doesn't mean it's short on laughs! The movie &emdash; Ha! Ha! &emdash; excuse me, but I'm still chuckling &emdash; The movie is about short folks and all the funny things that happen to them in their adventures. There are 61 really good parts; one of them is when the Chinese man tries to say that the pearl was "in the river." However, the lady he tells it to thinks he says, "The pearl is in the liver." I like that part. Chevy Chase and Carrie Fisher are the tall people in this movie, but the Chinese man is especially good. Chinese are funny! Go see this good movie!

Wildcats

(1986)
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

This film about the glorious game of pigskin tells of a school in need of a coach, and oh my, do they get one! The funny woman from "Laugh-In" takes the job and fun ensues! At one point, the principal thanks the parents for buying the last of the peanut brittle. I do not remember the relevance of that, but I really enjoyed it. See it while it's hot!

Dubada!!
