7-31-98: Farewell, My Friends

It seems as though Jackie has quite a temper. We were flying our planes, and ours was in first for a long time. But then, somebody else's plane flew farther, so we gave it another run that didn't make the distance. I thought we would get another try, but Jackie just crashed the plane into the trash can, and went into a corner to sulk. It ends up that we were allowed to have another try. I'm not mad that I didn't win though. Afterall, it's just a little camping thing.

Today was probably the worst day to leave. It was raining and sky was gray. But eating my ice cream sundae, I realized how much friendship was so much a part of camp. We just sat around the table talking. I felt such a part of everything, and having a conversation with somebody I hardly knew didn't take any effort at all.

I guess Jackie is mad at Kathleen and I. When we were getting on the buses back home, Jackie took a seat next to me, but I had already promised Kathleen she could sit beside me. So I was just explaining to Kathleen why I couldn't do that, and Jackie left to a place 3 seats away.

Kathleen and I wanted desperately to go in the back where everyone else was, but the chaperone wouldn't let us. We were a little angry, but we swapped phone numbers and discussed what we could here from the back(we kept on waving to the people there, and they waved to us back) After 3 years at being at assorted camps, I've finally realized that what you learn there has nothing to do with education, but has everything to do with friends.
