Camp 1996

In the summer of June, I walked in the dormitory I would be staying in. I was hoping to find my friend, "Kate" who was supposed to be my roommate.

While I was unpacking, I begged my mom to find out where Kate was. She left to do so, and I was left fixing my bed and pillows, and putting my clothes into the assigned drawers and closet.

In five minutes, my mom came back with her lips drawn in a more "Kate wasn't on the list. You're roomate is some girl name Jane."

"Jane?" I cried in dismay,"I hardly know her! She never talks to anybody!"

My parents had to leave, so they hugged me, and left.

I later found out that another girl would also be my roomate. smaller smile.

"What happened," I asked as I pushed my suitcase under the bed.

Her name was "Maggie", and she was a harpist.

Once Jane came, we all went to the chapel for orientation. Over the week, Jane, Maggie, and I got to know each other. I ended up getting annoyed with them.

They played jokes on each other, and on me. They both insisted that they saw bloody Mary in the mirror, and Maggie said she saw bloody Mary with Hitler. Whenever we would go through the exit door, Jane would shreik in agony, claiming that each time she went through the door, her leg ached. I would have to waste 10 minutes at lunch and dinner because of this.

All in all, the camp was okay. However, we had to practice 6-7 hours a day, and my arms ached horribly at the end of each day. At the end of summer camp, we held a concert, I got to be in 2nd chair! How wonderful this was for me!(actually, it wasn't a big deal, but I like to exaggerate sometimes)

The camp was beneficial to my violin skills though. I can't help thinking of all those bad memories though....
