Hello, my name is Thunder Horse. Merry Meet. This is an interview style bio. My love, Chuck, asked me these questions about my spirituality background earlier and throughout our relationship. I have also recieved many interesting questions from people wonder about my background, so there here you go... YOU: What is your REAL name? TH: Thunder Horse Woman is my Native American name. I received in a vision when I was seven and a medicine man then gave me that name. YOU: Are you Native American? TH: Yes. I am also Norwegian, Dutch & a little French somewhere. YOU: What tribe? TH: Northern Cheyenne. YOU: How did you get into witchcraft and/or shamanism? TH: Long story, but I will give you the shorten version. Ever since I was a baby, my native american grandmother told me the stories of my people. She taught me respect for my elders and the sacred mother earth and her union with the great spirit or father sky. Also, respect for all my brothers and sister animal and human alike. She was my first teacher. Unfortunely, my grandmother past on before I became a woman and could have a more formal training. I have had many teachers since both in the realms of witchcraft and shamanism. I have been labeled a "gifted" by more than one medicine man/woman in my lifetime. I come from a long line of medicine women. I chose to carry on the tradition of my people on. I am honored to carry on a generational tradition. YOU: What is a "gifted"? TH: A "gifted" is a person male or female usually born of another "gifted" who sees visions and if he/she chooses he/she will become a type of shamen. There are many different ways of healing and everyone has their own speciality. YOU: What is the different between a witch and a shamen? TH: To me, a shamen and a witch are very alike. A shamen is the "witch" of the Native American culture, in general. But, it really depends on one personal definition of witch. If you have read Alder's Drawing down the Moon, you understand that this question is harder than it seems. Let me think on that one and get back to you. YOU: What do you do for fun? TH: I am always reading something, whether it is for a class, or a spiritual book. I draw and write poetry on a regular basis. I go out dancing sometimes at a couple of clubs other than dmf. YOU: What is your favorite holiday? TH: Halloween, the Witches New Year.
