3 August 1991 - SM Convent was national runner-up at the First Tan Sri Datuk Wira Abdul Rahman Arshad Debating Tournament. The school represented the North Zone.
December 1991 - School administration by the mission- aries ended with the optional retirement of Sister Maureen Chew,PJK. as SMCI 4th principal.

January 1992 - The appointment of Miss Khoo Gim Keat marked the start of school administration by lay principals.
Year 1993 - Ng Su Yuen and Lim Poh Ching is the best student and top sportwomen of SMCI. Pamela a/p Thomas Joseph as head girl.
December 1993 - Deep cracks appeared in the Secondary and Primary Convent buildings since the construction of Ipoh Parade.The building occupied by the Primary Convent was declared unsafe.
Year 1993 - SMCI won 3 golds , 6 silvers and 7 bronzes in MSSPK Swimming Meet.

10 January 1994 - The PIBG decided in a emergency general meeting that SM Convent would not move out of its premises,despite the cracks in the building.

October 1995 - The primary school building was declared safe after 23 months of cordoning.

Year 1996 - In Swimming Leong Mun Yi awarded Anugerah Khas Menteri Besar Perak and SMCI won 22 golds,12 silvers and 4 bronzes in MSSPK Swimming Championship.

Year 1999 - May , SMCI chorus speaking teacher Cik Nair retire from service.
Year 1999 - Loke Chooi Yen as head girl and Cheang Szu Ann was award student leader of the school.
Year 1999 - October 15 , Mrs Valerie Ho retire as 6th principal of SMCI.
