THE GREAT COMMISSION After the resurrection Jesus commanded his followers to make disciples of all nations, to baptise them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and to teach them to observe all that He had commanded them. This was accompanied by the promise to be with them always, even to the end of the age. (Matt 28:19,20). He commanded them to go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation, and stated that the one who has believed and been baptised shall be saved, but the one who has not believed shall be condemned. (Mark 16:15,16). It is reasonable to assume from this that baptism was intended to so closely accompany believing that there is no need to consider those who have believed but not been baptised. |
