THE HAMILTON INSTITUTE OF EXOPALEONTOLOGY
Historical Atlas

Overview, Directions and Contact Information
The Hamilton Institute of Exopaleontology is the leading research organization dedicated to uncovering the secrets of lost races. Our membership consists of dedicated scientists and explorers who spend decades searching for traces of extinct civilizations.
How to apply for membership
If we were interested in seeing your resume, we would have approached you already. The Institute is always on the lookout for dedicated researchers who will add their skills and resolve to our mission. However, we limit membership applications to those who have a proven track record of well-planned, completed expeditions. We also have ethical standards that prevent us from sponsoring known treasure-pirates and tomb-robbers. If you are a young scientist, remember that the quality of the work is what interests us, not the number of publications.
Where is the Orion Arm Headquarters of the Institute?
The regional headquarters for the Hamilton Institute for Exopaleontology is located in the Delta Upali star system. Delta Upali C/D II was once inhabited by an impressive civilization which constructed massive towers and transatmospheric orbital platforms which still encircle the planet today. The purpose of these structures and the fate of the species that built them are complete mysteries. The only life on the planet is a thick layer of phototransic "moss" and unicellular organisms, which is all that has evolved since the collapse of two nearby stars in the past few hundred thousand years. Some speculate that the planet was simply abandoned as the inhabitants evolved into Gods, others have theorized that the impenetrable towers themselves protect the memories of these beings. The HIE offices themselves look miniscule among the towers no matter how grand our buildings might be on another world.
The following maps show the location of the Delta Upali system. Please note that travel to the system is restricted.

An article on molecular phylogenetics explains some of the analysis techniques used to decipher the history of ancient civilizations by looking at their surviving offshoot species.
