Resources for Classical or New Testament Greek StudiesTyping Greek Text | Greek Grammar Files | Maps of the Historical Age | Recommended Books | Greek Web SitesTyping Greek TextClassical Greek is written with accents, breathings and subscripts which the standard Windows Symbol font cannot reproduce. Greek students can use an assortment of software to type Greek text with the extra jots. One of the simpler methods is a TrueType font called SPIonic (15.8 kb). This font uses "zero-width" characters to place breathings, accents, subscripts and elisions in your Greek text. You type a letter, then by hitting a key, you add marks to that letter. The documentation is sufficient. The pdf files at this site were created with SPIonic. You might wish to view them for a sample of the font's ability. Greek Grammar Helps![]() They should soon be available in Microsoft Word format for users with the SPIonic font installed on their system.
I am a Greek student, but not a Greek scholar. Besides the occasional typo (the wrong sigma for instance), these files may have flat-out errors.
