WHO:
Irreverence is the
brain-child of Reginald Pakosz and Fayaz Chagani. Other writers are
featured on the contributors page. We welcome submissions
but reserve the the right to refuse those which are contrary to our insidious
mandate.
WHAT:
Irreverence is a
magazine devoted to the problematization of accepted ideas through essay
writing, fiction, poetry, and art.
WHERE:
Irreverence is inspired
by the cold, parochial, bourgeois City of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
WHEN:
The first issue of Irreverence
was produced in 1995. Subsequent issues have appeared annually.
The large time gap between issues has been the result of both apathy and
incapacity.
WHY:
Following writers such as
Michel Foucault, Irreverence seeks to induce skepticism. It
aims to disturb the sediment of our culture so that we may construct a
mythos "closer to the heart". It wills a release from the burden
of history. |
