  • If you as a parent have a problem with your child's picture (without means of identification) being posted on our class web site, please speak to me about it.

  • Below you will find a copy of our class rules.  These rules were distributed to all students during the first week.  I ask you as parents to support the implementation of these rules by discussing them with your children and returning them with your signature.

CLASSROOM RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Mr. Cruz  --  Language Arts

RIGHTS

1.        Earn an education that will help to make you a better student and person.

2.        Enter an environment that is conducive to learning.

3.        Receive information that is valuable and accurate.

4.        Earn and value respect for yourself and all others.

5.        Share thoughts and ideas in an appropriate forum.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.        Report to class on time and be in your assigned seat before the tardy bell rings.

2.        Bring class materials daily (i.e. journal, notebook, pen, and paper).

3.        Pay attention and follow directions the first time they are given.

4.        No talking during lectures, presentations, or class assignments without my permission.

5.        Sit in your assigned seat at all times unless given my permission to move.

6.        No playing or grooming in class.  This means no cards, marbles, toys, make-up, or combing hair in class, or I will confiscate that object.

7.        Do not chew gum, eat, or drink anything in class.

8.        Take care of all class materials.  Therefore, no writing or vandalizing class books, desks, walls, computers, etc.

9.        Show your utmost respect to all persons in the class (i.e. teachers, students, or guests).

10.    Sit in your seat when the dismissal bell rings.  You will be dismissed by me only when all classroom materials are in their proper place and the classroom is in order.

 

ACADEMIC AND WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS

1.   Assignments are due on time.

a.        If absent on the day an assignment is due, it must be turned in the first day you return to class.

b.        Request make-up work the first day you return to class and turn it in the next time class meets.

2.        All assignments must be complete, legible, and in good condition or they will not be accepted.

3.        All graded written work must be completed in ink only.  Use blue or black ink only.

a.   Pencils may be used for some classwork such as notes or writing drafts.   Pencils should be sharpened at the beginning of class.

4.   Use only white, regular-sized (8X11) notebook paper for all assignments.  You may write on both sides of your paper.

5.   Write the heading for every class assignment as such:

      (Name)                                                                                       (Period)

      (Date)                                                                                        (Mr. Cruz)

                                                (Assignment Title)

I have read and discussed these class requirements with my child and agree with their administration for Mr. Cruz’s Language Arts class this year.
