Spirituality and code of conduct

WB01391_.gif (1182 bytes)

All the active members of Sri Jagannath Vedic Astrology Center should rise on the level of Satva guna or mode of goodness. Satva guna was predominant in Satya-yuga when principles of Dharma such as cleanliness, austerity, mercy and truthfulness were fully followed by all humanity. Dharma is compared to a bull with four legs. In Treta-yuga, each leg of Dharma is gradually reduced by one quarter, in Dvapara-yuga to one half and in the Kali-yuga to one fourth, which is still gradually diminishing to zero. That is happening because of four pillars of adharma or irreligiousity and they are namely: illicit sex, intoxication, meat eating (also includes eating of fish and eggs) and gambling. Illicit sex is destroying cleanliness and therefore is apavitra or avishnu, intoxication is destroying austerity, meat eating is destroying mercifulness in man and is asuric and gambling is destroying quality of truthfulness and is asat.

All active members of Sri Jagannath Vedic Astrology Center for their own benefit and as an example to others should follow four regulative principles that are as follows:

No eating of meat, fish or eggs
No intoxication (intake of alcohol, caffeine tea, smoking, taking pan, etc.)
They shouldn’t gamble
They shouldn’t engage in illicit sex (sex outside marriage)

These activities should not be performed on the premises of Sri Jagannath Vedic Astrology Center because it pollutes the atmosphere of the center and it is also offensive to Deities of Sri Jagannath Baladeva and Subadhra Who are also residing in the Sri Jagannath Vedic Astrology Center.

It is advisable that all active members rise early in the morning (before sunrise), read daily from Holy scriptures such as Bhagavad Gita or Srimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavat Purana), and do japa daily. Chanting of the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra on the japa mala is the easiest form of spiritual practice in the Kali-yuga and it can be introduced to the interested members of Sri Jagannath Vedic Astrology Center.

GURU'S NOTE:

While agreeing to this, we are of the view that each individual member should adhere to these guidelines inside the premises of the Center and should gradually move towards self-purification. The students of Jyotish will be given a specific mantra and can add the Maha mantra to their daily japa.

The following are provided for daily practice: -

Wake up and worship your family deity or alternatively, Sri Jagannath with the Dwadasakshari Mantra " OM NAMO BHAGAVATE VASUDEVAYA" as He is the head of Vasudeva Kutumba. This world is one family and should be viewed as such under all circumstances for proper spiritual growth.
Take a bath and worship Sri Ganga Mata while bathing chant " HAR HAR GANGE"
Perform daily Pooja of the following deities:
Sri Ganesha:  OM SRI GANESAYA NAMA
Sri Guru: VYAM VYASADEVAYA NAMAH
Sri Surya: OM GHRINI SURYAADITYA
Sri Vishnu: HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE, HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE
Sri Maha Vishnu OM NAMO NARAYANAYA
Sri Lakshmi: OM SHRIM HRIM KLIM MAHALAKSHMAYAI JAGATPRASUTAYAI SWAHA
Sri Siva: OM NAMAH SIVAYA NAMO SOMESHWARAYA
Sri Mata: OM AIM HRIM KLIM CHAMUNDAYAI VICHCHAI

This practice will take about one hour and it is advisable to start this at 6 AM daily. Do not get up immediately after the pooja. Do a Shanti Mantra or a Bhajan of your Ista devata.
The rituals should be kept at a minimum: Panch Upachar of the Ista devata only. Offer water, ghee lamp, incense, and naivedya (food), flower & sandal paste.
Meditate on the ekakshar mantra of Sri Vishnu/ Krishna " SHRIM" for 15 minutes before starting the pooja.
A block diagram on the Sankhya Shastra is enclosed for your perusal.
