Comments About Ouija Boards

Patented in 1891 by Elijah Bond and eventually taken over by William Fuld. The patent was bought by Parker Brothers in 1966. The Ouija board is one of the best-selling board games, presently outselling the popular game Monopoly. The name "ouija" comes from the French and German words for yes, "oui" and "ja." While there are many different kinds of Ouija Boards, most people are familiar with a board similar to those shown above, with the letters of the alphabet, 0-9 in numbers and the words, "Yes" and "No." Users lightly place their hands (or fingertips)on a pointer, called a planchette. The pointer moves and spells out answers to questions asked of the ouija.

Ouija boards were really popular in the 1960's. I can remember my older friends playing with them at parties and at sleep-overs. Generally accompanied by a spooky story, it became a production designed to scare the wits out of us younger children. It ALWAYS worked!

The Ouija board is perhaps one of the most controversial ways to communicate with spirits ever invented. It has been praised and condemned as either a way to communicate with restless spirits or as a direct link to the dark side. But which is it? Are the boards really dangerous, or are they just parlor games with no more power than the power of suggestion?

All I can tell you is that, in my experience,I have NEVER heard of anything good coming from the use of one of these so-called "Witchboards". I can also tell you that many documented cases of demonic oppression and actual possesion began with the use of an ouija board - usually by someone using it alone.

I have heard many people state that the answers provided by the board are simply the unconscious movements made by the people touching the pointer. If that's true, then it is nothing more than the power of suggestion.... but how do you explain the fact that the board often gives information that there was no way the sitters could have possibly known? Precognition or telepathy? Maybe, but then again - maybe not.

Is it possible for negative spirits or even nonhuman or demonic entities to come through the Ouija board and oppress or even possess you if you use it? Is the Ouija Board just a toy or is it an open door to something more sinister than you would care to encounter?
