Hello EpilogFI,

Thank you so much for your questions and I apologize for taking so long to respond.

First Gen. 38:7 where God is said to slay Er;

Judah made some foolish decisions by making friendships with the Canaanites which God had warned against for the very reason that they would lead the Jewish people astray and cause them to worship idols. Judah not only made friendships but married a Canaanite woman and had three sons by her, one of which was Er. In the Jewish tradition the father was to select the bride for the son, so Judah not only violated the Jewish custom but directly disobeyed God's command to stay away from the Canaanites. As a result is states that Er was extremely wicked in the site of God. I believe that this wickedness included a defiance of God and His laws and that was the reason for the consequence of his death. A lot of times we are left with a verse that leaves us hanging for an explanation but we always have to remember that God is a Just God and there will always be perfect reasons for whatever He does. We have to believe by faith that God is in control of everything and every decision He makes is right.

Elijah and Moses as opposed to Elijah and Enoch;

I am assuming that the reason for this question is the fact that Elijah and Enoch are the only two in scripture that did not suffer a physical death and are thought to be the two that will be the Witnesses in Revelation 11. I believe that Elijah and Enoch are indeed the two witnesses of Revelation 11 and for that very reason. For the reason of your question, I believe that Moses and Elijah were present for a totally different reason with Jesus in Matthew 17. Jesus came to fulfill all of the law and the prophets and these two men were those that represented these two offices in the Old Testament. I hope that this answers your questions and once again thank you for sending them. Adam

Can you tell me where in the BIBLE is the scripture pertaining to (OBEY THE LAW OF THE LAND) thanks

Hello Txmynahbir,

In answer to your question, No the Bible does not say specifically to "Obey the Law of the Land". It does however in several places indicate that we are to Obey those that have rule over us, for example consider the following verses;

Romans 13:1-2

"Let ever soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resitst shall receive to themselves damnation."

Colossians 3:22

"Servants obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:"

Titus 2:9

"Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

Titus 3:1

"Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,"

Matthew 22:21, Mark 12:17, Luke 20:25

"Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's."

As you can see there are several scriptures that indicate that we are to be in subjection to the laws and leaders of man. We are also to keep in mind that we are first and foremost to keep the law of God. Therefore, if the laws of man conflict with the law of God, then we must make a choice as to which we are to break. A good example of this is when the disciples were told by the Jewish leaders to not preach and teach in the name of Jesus, they chose to obey God rather than man. There may be occasions where this is necessary. We are to keep the laws of man until they cause us to disobey God's law and sometimes the lines are not always easy to determine. That is why it is so important to "Study to show yourselves approved unto God..." Thank you for your question and I hope this has helped.

Adam

Hello Txmynahbir,

There are many "Daily Devotionals" which will guide you through reading the Bible in a year. Many Bibles even have one in them. However, these daily devotionals are not really considered "Bible Studies", but rather just a daily reading designed to get you through the Bible in a year's time. Studying the Scriptures is more than just reading, so if you are looking for a Bible Study system I have provided one on the Web Page under "Studying the Bible". Please check it out and if it is still not what you are looking for please let me know and I will try to direct you to the appropriate resources. Thanks for your response, Adam

greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ:

I came across this site through the crosswalk search engine. I found this site pretty (phat). This site is one that will be add to my list. I am a bible student at a small college in NC. This site will a great resource in my studies. I would like to coment on the comentary about the rapture, dealing with the pre-trib view. I my self hold to the amillennialist view, for more info. see Basic Bible Interpretation, Roy L. Zuck.

However I do not hold these views as a test of fellowship. I liked how you ended this comentary in your summary. What ever our view is, we as Christians should be ready to meet the Lord at any time. I really like this site. Thank you for a job well done.
