Having a Perfect Heart

> Do you know it is possible to walk before God with a perfect heart?

> You may be already trying to do so.

> Keep striving - if it was not possible God would not have instructed us to do so from the beginning.

Genesis 17:1

> With the progenitor of His people - the start.

Deuteronomy 18:13

> With the people themselves - some actually met the standards.

Psalms 101:2

> David was a man after God's own heart - he was said to be perfect.

> Must understand the word "Perfect" - not sinless or flawless

> David was a good exmp; his heart was right but he failed God many times - adultery, murder, - yet was still thought of as perfect?

> Even though at times we may seem to the world to be at times very sinful and far from "perfect" as David; God judges the heart.

Psalms 139: 23-24

> A perfect heart is searchable

> How many times do we truly ask God to purge us?

> Do we really want to be "perfect"? Purged? Sifted?

Psalms 64: 6

> You do not realize how deeply any association with evil affects you - any compromise at all - each step this direction gets easier.

Isaiah 29: 15

> Those who hide any secret sin do not want God to purge their hearts and can never be until they get it out.

Psalms 24: 3 - 5

> Tabernacle gives a good picture of walk into perfection;

Outer court - animal slain - blood covering

Laver - for cleansing - high priest could not enter inner court until he had cleansed in Laver - even if he had the blood - still had to cleanse.

> Christians think today they can be saved - claim blood - never cleanse character - and enter boldly into Holy of Holies.
