The New Age Movement

The Foundation

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' " "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Genesis 3: 1-6

The teachings of New Age come from this very incident and form the core and foundation of the New Age Beliefs, which are:

  1. God's Word cannot be trusted entirely
  2. Man does not have to die
  3. Man can become a god
  4. Man can evolve through hidden knowledge

New Age Beliefs

  1. In God: There is no personal God, just a cosmic force in which fragments of this force reside each of us.
  2. Jesus: Just a man that ascended to a Master/Godlike being through metaphysical disciplines which we all can reach.
  3. Christ: The impersonal "force" that rested on the man Jesus and made him special, which also rested on others and can rest on you.
  4. The Bible: A work of deep secrets that can only be understood by "masters", to some just a book of Jewish legends.
  5. Denial of Death: There is no death, but reincarnation which allows you to reach that "godlike" stature regardless of how many lifetimes it takes.
  6. Salvation: By works of occult discipline; the law of karma is what will judge us.
  7. The World: Can be manipulated through sophisticated mental and spiritual technology.
  8. View of Other Beliefs: Jews, Christians, and Muslims are regarded as counter revolutionary and must either evolve or be purified.

The New Age movement cannot be restricted to one particular group because it encompasses so many groups. The above is the basics of how you can identify what constitutes the New Age Belief.
