The Sower and the Seed

Matthew 13: 1-8, 18-23

Vs. 1-2

Jesus was always willing to teach the people

People came to Him - John 6:44, 12:32 (His death allows us to draw near), James 4:8

Vs. 3-8

There are four conditions of people's hearts that hear the Gospel.

The "Wayside" = the Word is presented but the devil is allowed to snatch it out before anything can form.

The "Stony Ground" = the Word is presented and is received but no root foundation is ever established to cultivate it.

The "Thorny Ground" = the Word is presented and is received but things of the world crowd out time for God.

The "Good Ground" = the Word is presented and is received and cultivated and grows abundantly.

Vs. 18-23

The Explanation of each situation.

In vs. 19 - how does satan snatch away the seed from people?

In vs. 21 - how can tribulation and persecution stunt the growth of the seed?

In vs. 22 - how are people deceived with the things of the world?

What is the key factor that could have prevented each of the previous situations?

I believe that it is an area that has been lacking in the "Church" as long as I have known. "DISCIPLESHIP"

How many churches today have a "Discipleship" program that is active?

Jesus commanded it - Matthew 28: 19-20.

We need to be actively looking for those that need to be discipled and take that responsibility on ourselves. It is our mission and it is commanded of us.

If we take the initiative we can avoid a lot of seeds being planted on Stony, Thorny, or by the Wayside.

Pray for God to lead you to someone that you can Disciple!

Pray for God to send someone to Disciple you!
