12.  Search Engines

Search Engines are powerful tools, often too powerful in that they provide too many "hits," or sites of little use to the teacher or student seeking information.  I have thus divided this list into:

12.1 Education  These sites include those I have found to be of particular use to educators.  Several are purpose-designed to be used for educational purposes or to access education related data bases.

12.2 General  These sites are useful to the public at large, rather than to educators in particular.  

12.3 Kid Safe Search Sites  These are sites specifically designed for use by children and students.  Some are  instructional in nature, offering lessons in how to effectively use search engines.
