Summary: Liz's POV several years after they left Roswell. Category: Max/Liz Author's Notes: This is my second Roswell fanfic. Comments are welcomed.
5:02am She left that life in a little town named Roswell and so began a new one with what romantics like to call "the love of her life". So melodramatic, you think? No. It goes beyond even that scale. See I once dreamt of living in a little house with a painted fence all around it and having the 2.5 kids. But what I received was eons better. My true life began after disappearing from my graduation. I can't lie and say that I was not heartbroken once the details of never being able to sit at the dinner table with my parents or being around old friends was like. But there was Max. And he made me complete. But I digress... Tonight I celebrated my 35th birthday. My best friends, Maria with Michael and Isabel with Kyle, were all celebrating with our combined children in my house. My own ten year old twins helped me blow out the candles! Maria and Michael eventually did marry and also have a child but the surprising relevation occurred when Isabel and Kyle finally fell in love. He'd been so patient with her. Carefully wooing her still broken heart for over five years. Kyle had known never to attempt to make Isabel forget Jesse but he had, instead, offered her tenderness, respect and always been there. Little by little Isabel had been able to leave behind that other love which could never be and become the wife to Kyle which he cherished more than life itself. Their first child had been born beneath the stars and sky... almost a reflection upon their Mother's past. Amazing how the pieces fall into place. Canada welcomed us without questions. Years ago Max, Isabel and Michael forged documents giving us new names and pasts and changed our features a bit to resemble other people and no longer do we live like nomads. Sometimes it's really wonderous having a husband who can retrace your fingerprints and change dental records with the powers he acquired when he was born on another planet. So now we're all "respectable citizens" who own homes, work a nine to five job and raise our kids amongst those who don't know the real secrets we hold. Now we hide in plain sight. My "gift", which began soon before graduation, is the knowledge of the future. I see myself growing old beside my love and the children of all our families will always remain safe. The ones who searched for us are no longer interested and have become pieces of a long forgotten past. The beginning rays of the new morning are now breaking in through the slants in my window shades. It's now 6:10am and it's Saturday. We have a date at the park with my little ones but for the next couple of hours I'll simply lay next to him and watch the play of incoming sunlight as it caresses his beautiful features. Max. My husband. Years ago, that became my mantra. And even now, it gives me goosebumps. This was Liz Parker Evans. Goodbye.
