Detail of bunched porcupine spear, Kowanyama Land and Natural Resources Management Office, Sun Mar 16 1997 [PH]. Some spines are missing from this specimen. An Australian fifty cent piece, approximately 32 mm in diameter, allows for an estimation of size.

The bunched porcupine spear is called:

It is made with a row of around four to six echidna ("porcupine") spine barbs set back from the tip, fastened in place with wax.
