The figbird, Sphecotheres viridis (family Oriolidae), is a stocky, stout-billed oriole common on Cape York Peninsula. The race S. v. flaviventris is the variety found on Cape York Peninsula. The male has a black head with red around the eyes, green on the wings and back and yellow throat and belly.
