Waterlily sp., Nymphoides hydrocharoides, near Oriners Station, February 1996 [PH].

This waterlily sp., Nymphoides hydrocharoides (family Menyanthaceae), is a fine aquatic herb with yellow flowers and 2-lobed floating leaves. It grows in paperbark swamps, freshwater billabongs and swampy or slow-moving sections of freshwater streams.

This waterlily is a calendar plant. When the flowers come out the turtles are fattened up.
