Black whip snake

The black whip snake, Demansia atra (family Elapidae), is an olive-brown snake, varying in colour from quite light to very dark (almost black). This swift-moving snake is active during the day.

Traditionally this snake is not eaten. Lofty Yam reports that eating it makes you sick.
