My name is Mary Spina. I am a fourth grade teacher at Bee Meadow School in Whippany, New Jersey. I am currently teaching for the fifth year at Bee Meadow. I graduated from Middletown High School South, Douglass College (B.A. in psychology) and Rutgers Graduate School of Education (Ed.M. in elementary education). Before I became a teacher, I worked for five years as a commercial lines underwriter for Hanover Insurance Company.
I have been married to George for eight wonderful years. We like to vacation in the U.S. visiting our national parks. We have seen Mount Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Acadia National Park, and many other fascinating and awe-inspiring parks.
In my spare time, I like to play with our golden retriever puppy, Molly. I also like reading, cross stitching, crafting, and quilting. I have been collecting dolls since I was very young and now have over 100 unique and beautiful ones decorating my home. I also hunt down Nancy Drew books to rebuild the collection that was heavily damaged by a flooded basement when I was little. I have recently started to collect teddy bears and have about twelve so far.
For fun I like to go to the movies, especially Disney movies! I like to listen to music, including Irish music (nee Healey) and of course Disney songs! My favorite singers are Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, and Bruce Springsteen (my students have told me that they are considered "oldies" - oh well!).
