The Northwest Civil War Council and the Friends of Old Fort Stevens
will host their annual Battle Reenactment event on September 4th
through 6th -- Labor Day weekend. As you may know, the Fort Stevens
Reenactment takes place in the historic area of the fort each year.
This is the NCWC's largest event, drawing reenactors from all over
the northewest including California, Nevada, and Idaho. The reconstructed
earthworks originally built in 1863-65 is Oregon's only direct linkn
to the Civil War. It's appropriate that this is the site of a battle
and living history encampment honorng that link.
The historic are of Ft. Stevens State Park is located on the
Columbia River shore west of Hammond, Oregon, approximately 10 miles
from Astoria.
