We live in an old two-story house originally built around 1915. The front of the house faces south which is really nice when we do have winter weather! ![]() When you first open the door you encounter the spectacular entry that caught my attention the very first time I saw the house. The wood paneling is curly yellow pine. The original owner owned the lumber yard and you can sure tell it! The picture on the left would be the left side of the entry (window on the west wall) and mid-way landing on the stairs. The picture on the right (featuring my beautiful daughter Alana!) really shows off the entire entry and gives a glimpse of the wood columns that separate the entry from the front "parlor" and the front "parlor" from the rear "parlor" (we just call them the living room and the green room!) |

| As you turn to your right from the entry, you come into the front room. The picture with Alana and Sean helps you get a feel for the 10 foot ceilings! Here's a different view. Toward the back of the house and separated from the front room by more of the wonderful wood columns is our "green" room. The green is much darker than the picture! The fireplace is tile -- and just for looks. This one shows the view towards the southeast corner of this room. The door leads into the "sun porch" (a friend calls it a "Florida room") which is currently wasted on just storage. | |

| Moving to the left (west), you enter the dining room. It is separated from the "green" room by a set of double pocket doors -- featuring the same glorious wood grain that you saw in the entry. The furniture has rearranged since the pictures were taken -- the piano is now on the south wall (the window is west) and the buffet has moved to the right of the window along that wall. The wall paper is a burgundy stripe and the ceiling is painted mint green to match the paper below the chair railing. The paper is a little dingy since the kitchen fire (1995), but everyone in the family loves the paper so it will probably stay for a long time to come anyway. You only notice the dark if you know to look for it! | |

| The kitchen is a dream -- if I could only cook!! Obviously the fire in 1995 was total where the kitchen was concerned. We were very fortunate that the kitchen was the only room destroyed by the fire (but it was totalled!) The pictures start with the northeast wall (with the shelves), then the southeast wall (the window is on the east), and then the view looking to the southwest (into the dining room). | |

| Anyway, there's the tour of the main floor! There's a finished basement and then upstairs there are 4-5 bedrooms depending on how you count them. We used it as 5 when we first moved in, but one is now my study (it's separated from the master bedroom by French doors so it's obviously not a "real" separate bedroom). The master bedroom is huge -- the full width of the house! It was originally a "porch area" with windows all around, but the people we bought the house from took out some of the windows and converted it to a master bedroom with the "study" as part of the "suite"! High class, huh?!? | |
