The Music of Christmas
Daddy's Testimony in Life and in Death

The music of Christmas? So often we think of the carols and excitement remembered from childhood. I've been so blessed, because my godly parents caused us even as children to focus on the Christ child from whom Christmas gets its name. However, its full reality only began to come through to us this past Thanksgiving as we sang Christmas carols and listened as Daddy read the Christmas story one more time. Then, in April, following a massive heart attack, the family gathered in the I.C.U. to sing hymns about that Christ-child and all He's done for us. In spite of a respirator that prevented his uttering sound, we watched Daddy mouth the words right along with us. We saw the music of Christmas in its final fulfillment as Daddy left this world to meet his Lord. The music of Christmas?...truly, a song that never dies.

I had the privilege of sharing the previous testimony when the Emmanuel Baptist Church choir premiered The Music Of Christmas for music week at Glorietta Baptist Assembly in the Summer of 1996.
