Patricia Loveless is well known for her outstanding reproductions of classic antique faces. Dressed in an authentically styled, original costume, this doll has porcelain head, chestplate, arms and legs. She has blue eyes and golden light brown hair. Her dress virtually defies description. It is made with an iridescent type taffeta in soft muted green and purples where the light determines which color seems to dominate at any given moment. The dress is trimmed with antique laces and studded with crystals and pearls placed in the corners of the "quilted" diamond pattern throughout the skirt. It also features a pleated flounce at the hemline and special sleeve treatments. The bib front is of antique lace and also studded with crystals. There are simple ribbon and flower accents. The costume is completed with the hat and its plumes, a matching handbag, lace stockings and green leather French shoes. This doll has been described as Patricia Loveless' signature piece and it is easy to see why. |
