        To paraphrase Picasso,
        every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain one.

        Sumer Fae*
        When I see fireflies
        on a midsummer's eve,
        Tis faeries I see
        dancing in the trees.
        Oh... I KNOW they're fireflies,
but that's not what I SEE.
        I see faeries
        'cause they're faeries to me.

        *Sumer is not spelled wrong.
That is the Middle English spelling.

        Immersed in adult responsibilities,
we too often only use our imaginations
        for little more than worry
        (what ifs)
        or the really mundane
        (which restaurant).

In my opinion, the imagination is Sacred.
It soothes and strengthens the soul.
        If you've ever been stirred
(to laughter, tears, or a sense of wonder)
        by a song, a poem, a movie,
        or any other masterpiece,
        (including those found in nature
        like the Grand Canyon
        or the sky at night)
        you'll know what I mean.

        The imagination is vitally necessary,
        else why must we dream?
        Even the computer
you are viewing this page with
was born out of someone's imagination.

So go ahead, tap into the Divine creative energy
        that empowers the universe.

      • Use your senses.
      • Be creative.
      • Be expressive.
      • Be alive.
