Probably one of the biggest shames humankind has perpetrated upon our earth is the near extinction of the American Bison from the plains at the center of our continent. Now, just as they begin to come back, a new threat, again over money and personal gain, endangers this wonderous, amazing, majestic species. The herd in Yellowstone National Park decreased by 60% in the winter 1996-97, killed by cattle ranchers who regarded them as presenting a danger to their herds due to disease. The Bison's only offense was not to recognize the fences that separated them from the cattle ranches. We encourage to support the National Parks and Conservation Association and the Nature Conservancy in their efforts to Save the Bison. You can get information about this by following these links. The Spiritwalk Foundation is participating in the Nature Conservancy's Adopt-a-Bison program. We invite you to join in the effort. The guy on the left, Thunderfoot, is ours.
