Vipassana.com exists to disseminate information about Theravada Buddhism.

Theravada Buddhism is most often found in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Burma (Myanmar),

Cambodia, and Laos, and is based on the texts of the Pali Canon associated with

Gotama Buddha who lived in the 6th Century BCE.

Westerners are increasingly being drawn to explore this oldest surviving form of

Buddhism, and it is hoped that this site will prove useful to them. We see vipassana

meditation as being an integral part of Theravada Buddhism, supported by the

tradition and (for most people) not usefully separable from it.
