Cooperative Education is an academic program that offers the student an opportunity to combine classroom learning with on-the-job experience; the purpose of which is to help the student choose a career or find the "right" job and to achieve success based on that choice.  It also provides for the student who is already employed or who is seeking employment in a particular field of study.  The student learns to establish short- and long-range career objectives and to recognize his/her progress by establishing measurable learning objectives.  Supervision, evaluation and suggestions for improvement are provided.  Cooperative Education is a three-way relationship between the student, the college, and the employer.  Everyone benefits.

Through the combined efforts of community employers and East Los Angeles College, the student is offered an educational program of supervised work experience in his/her major field.
